Using the Class Display in VEX Classroom Games

This article walks you through using the class display in VEX Classroom Games. By the end, you’ll know how to show an event to your class, change what the display shows, and run matches from the display itself.

Opening the Class Display

From your event, select Open class display.

The class display opens in a new browser tab, so allow pop-ups if your browser asks. Move that tab to your projector or classroom screen, and keep running the event from the original tab.

The class display shows the current teams, the match timer, and the standings.

It updates on its own as you start the timer and record scores in the event, so you don’t need to touch it during a match.

Changing What the Class Display Shows

Select Display controls in the top-right corner of the class display.

The controls stay folded away so students only see the event. Select Display controls again to hide them.

Select the Audience view menu to choose what the class sees.

Follow the event is the default. It shows the current match, then switches on its own to awards as you present them and to the champion when the event is finished.

Select Standings to show only the standings table.

This is useful between matches or at the end of the event. In Head-to-Head events, you can also select Bracket to show the tournament bracket.

Select Activity to show the game field and a large timer.

This view works well while teams practice, since it shows the field without any scores.

To exit, select Full screen again or press Esc.

Running Matches from the Class Display

Select Open teacher controls.

Teacher controls let you run matches from the class display itself, which helps when you only have one screen. Students can see the controls while they’re open.

For score history, awards, and event settings, select Open event workspace in the Display controls.

Teacher controls only cover running matches. The event workspace opens in the same tab, in place of the class display.
