Running a Head-to-Head Tournament in VEX Classroom Games

In a Head-to-Head tournament, two teams face off in each match and the winner moves on, round by round, until one team is the champion. VEX Classroom Games builds the bracket and advances the winners for you, so you can keep the focus on the matches.

This article shows how to set up the bracket, record each match, and follow it to a champion.

Setting Up a Head-to-Head Event

Check the format description under Event settings.

Head-to-Head events are single elimination, and teams are randomly paired. A team without an opponent gets a bye, which moves it to the next round automatically.

Set the Number of teams, then type each team’s name.

You need at least two teams. In games played by Alliances, like Team Freeze Tag, two Alliances play each match instead of two teams.

In games scored with points, like Robot Soccer, enter both teams’ scores and select Record winner and advance.

The team with the higher score advances. A tie can’t be recorded, so replay the match and enter the deciding scores.

If you selected the wrong winner, select Reopen match.

This clears the last result and makes that match the current match again, so you can record the correct winner.
