Overview: VEX Passport

The VEX Passport allows users to connect with other certified VEX educators around the world, via the PD+ Community. Each connection you make helps to further personalize your professional learning community.

Note: You will need to have a PD+ account to access the Passport and connect with others.  For more information on creating a PD+ account, view this article.

What is the VEX Passport? 

The VEX Passport is a feature within PD+ that highlights educators around the world who have earned VEX certifications.

The interactive map shows the numbers of total certified educators around the globe. You can explore the map to see where certified educators are located, and connect with them individually.

In order to have your information displayed in the Passport Map, you will need to enable your profile information and permissions.

Sharing Your Profile

Update Your Profile Information

Upon first opening the VEX Passport, you will be prompted to update your profile information.

You can enter the name you wish to have displayed, your school affiliation, and brief biographical information you would like others to know about you. 

The next section of the Edit Profile prompt with text boxes to enter location details of city, region or state, zip or postal code, and country.

Scroll down in the window to complete your location details. You can enter your city, region, postal code, and country.

Once you have edited your profile information, scroll to the bottom of the window and select Save VEX Passport Settings.

You can edit or update your profile information at any time by selecting Edit Profile >.

Note: Your profile image is pulled directly from your VEX Login information. To update your profile image, visit login.vex.com.

Update Your Permissions

You must enable permissions to allows others to view your VEX Passport profile information and connect with you via the PD+ Community.

Select Edit Permissions > to open the permissions options.

By default, all of the permissions options are deselected. You must enable the optional profile details that you would like to have displayed. 

Select Allow users to connect to enable other educators to connect directly with you through a PD+ Community post.

Select Save VEX Passport Settings to enable your desired permissions.

Now your profile information will be viewable alongside the interactive map.

Searching in the VEX Passport

You can search in two ways – by location, or by VEX platform.

Search by Location

You can enter the country or city you wish to search for in the Search bar. Select the Search button to see the results on the map.

The map will then zoom in on the entered country or city, and display the specific locations of VEX certified educators within that region. 

Numbers indicate how many educators are located near that area. You can zoom in further on the map to see more details, or select a number to view more information.

Select a location icon to see the information of the certified educator it represents. 

You will be able to see the profile information that educator has publicly enabled, as well as the platforms in which they are certified and their approximate location.

Search by VEX Platform

You can also search for educators who are certified in specific VEX platforms.

Selecting a VEX platform will display the global educators certified in that platform.

The numbers shown in the interactive map will now reflect only the educators in the selected platform. In the example shown here, only the VEX IQ educators are shown in the map.

You can select multiple platforms to see all educators certified in all selected platforms.

Connecting in the Community

If an educator has enabled the "Allow others to connect" setting, you will be able to directly message them via the PD+ Community.

Select a location icon to see the information of the certified educator it represents. If the Connect in PLC button appears, you can connect directly with that educator.

This will open a new post in the Passport category of the PD+ Community. 

The educator you selected will be automatically tagged in the message, so that you can easily direct your message to that educator. Once you have typed your message, select Create Topic to post your message in the Community.

Total Certified Educators

Below the interactive map, you can view statistics about the total numbers of VEX certified educators globally. Each platform shows the number of completed certifications within it. The statistics below show the number of total unique educators that have been certified, and the total certifications they have earned.
