Adding the V5 Vision Sensor as a Device in VEXcode V5

When starting to code with VEXcode V5, Vision Sensor blocks will not appear in the Toolbox until the Vision Sensor has been added as a device and configured.

Adding the Vision Sensor as a Device

The Devices tab is selected in the VEXcode interface, indicated by a highlighted icon resembling a port hub. It is located among other toolbar icons for Controller, Brain, Download, Start, Stop, Share, and Feedback.

Add the Vision Sensor as a device, select the Devices icon.

The Devices panel displays a large white button labeled Add a device with a blue plus sign icon, indicating the user can begin adding a new device to their configuration.

Select Add a device.

The device selection screen presents various VEX hardware components. The Vision Sensor icon is highlighted with a white border. Other available devices include Controller, Drivetrain options, Motor Group, AI Vision, Inertial, Optical, Electromagnet, Rotation, and more.

Select the Vision Sensor.

The port selection screen for the Vision Sensor shows a grid of numbered blue squares from 1 to 21, allowing the user to select the port on the V5 Brain where the Vision Sensor is connected. The DONE button is visible at the bottom.

Select which port the Vision Sensor is attached to on the VEX V5 Brain. Ports that are already configured for other devices will be unavailable.

The Vision Sensor Settings screen appears after assigning a port. The sensor is labeled Vision1. A large Vision Sensor icon is shown, along with an Open Utility button. Below it is a configuration text area with buttons for Clear Config and Paste Config, and a DONE button to confirm setup.

The Vision Sensor configuration window will appear. For steps on how to configure the Vision Sensor, go here.
