Installing V5 Workcell Rubber Bands

This document is to aid in the installation of the rubber bands on the V5 Workcell’s arm. Think of these rubber bands as the muscle of the Workcell. Installing these rubber bands correctly ensures that your Workcell will function as intended. If you notice that your V5 Workcell’s arm is not moving accurately, shaking, or generally not moving in a smooth manner, the rubber bands may not be installed correctly, or at all.

Note: Star drive keys, twist ties, pliers, and zip ties can be used in the process of installing the rubber bands. Some of these techniques are shown in the videos below.

Step 30

This rubber band will be held by the standoff in the Arm Joint 1 and be threaded through Arm Joint 1. Then, it will run around the turntable to the back of the robot, be threaded through the turntable, and will end on the standoff connecting the robot to the Workcell.

Note: ensure to screw the standoff connected to the turntable of the Workcell back into the baseplate after the rubber band installation.

Step 47

This rubber band will be threaded through Arm Joint 3 and secured to Arm Joint 2.

Note: ensure to screw the 1.5” Standoff back into place after the rubber band installation.

Step 70

This rubber band will be threaded through Joint 4’s Claw Gear Crank to the back of Arm Joint 1.
