Saving a VEXcode IQ Python Project on Chromebook

When working in VEXcode IQ, it is important to understand how to save a project on a Chromebook.


How to Save a Python Project in VEXcode IQ (Chromebook)

Using ‘Save’

Saving VEXcode IQ Python projects is easy. First, select the project name window.

The device's Save As menu is open and set to save to the Downloads folder. The project's name in the menu is highlighted to indicate that it can be changed.

A Save dialog window will open.

Name your project by typing in your device's Save dialog window.

Notice the .iqpython file extension after the file name. All VEXcode IQ Python files will have this file extension.

Select the destination, such as the Downloads folder.

Then select ‘Save.’

Previously saved VEXcode IQ Python project is visible from the device's files.

The file will save to the chosen destination on your device. All VEXcode IQ Python projects are recognizable by their .iqpython extension.

Once a project is saved, VEXcode IQ will automatically save all changes in a project.

Note: Whenever there is an unsaved project VEXcode IQ will prompt users to save their work if the user attempts to:

  • Close VEXcode IQ
  • Create a new project
  • Open another project

Using ‘Save As’

You can also use the ‘Save As’ option from the File menu to make a copy of a project under a different name or in a different location.
