Converting a VEXcode IQ project between 1st and 2nd generation

Converting a VEXcode IQ project between 1st and 2nd generation just takes a few steps. This article will cover the following:


Converting a 1st generation Project to Use a 2nd generation Brain.

Open a 1st generation project in the workspace. Then, select the Devices window icon.

Once the Devices window is open, select the '2nd gen' icon.

A message will appear to alert you that the project will need to be converted. Select 'Continue' to proceed with the conversion.

Select 'OK' once the project conversion has been completed.

The '2nd gen' icon will be highlighted to show that the project has been converted. You can now run this project on a 2nd generation Brain.

Note: You will notice that there isn't a Gyro configured in the 2nd generation project. This is because the 2nd generation Brain has a gyro built-in. 


Converting a 2nd generation project to use a 1st generation Brain.

Open a 2nd generation project in the workspace. Then, select the Devices window icon.

Once the Devices window is open, select the '1st gen' icon.

A message will appear to alert you that the project will need to be converted. Select 'Continue' to proceed with the conversion.

The '1st gen' icon will be highlighted to show that the project has been converted. You can now run this project on a 1st generation Brain.

Note: You will notice that the Gyro icon has appeared in the Drivetrain window. You may need to configure a gyro because there is not a gyro built into the 1st generation Brain.
