Troubleshooting Connecting to App-based VEXcode GO

If you are having trouble connecting to your VEX GO Brain using a VEXcode GO app, there are several steps you can take to solve the problem.

VEXcode GO Cannot Find My VEX GO Brain

Problem:

VEXcode GO continues to show the “Select a VEX GO Brain '' dialog box, but your VEX GO Brain does not appear.

Possible Solution Steps

Ensure the VEX GO Battery is connected to the VEX GO Brain, and that the Battery is charged.

Ensure that the VEX GO Brain is powered on, and in range of your device. The button on top of the Brain will turn green when powered on.

The VEX GO Brain must be in Bluetooth range (within approximately 30 feet) of the device you are attempting to connect to.

Ensure the Brain is not currently in update mode. A Brain that is updating will blink green and red while it is updating. It will return to solid green once the update is complete.

Note: the update length has been shortened for the animation. An actual firmware update may take up to 2 minutes.

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled and VEXcode GO has permission to use Bluetooth on your device.

The VEX GO Battery Level Is Too Low to Update the VEX GO Brain

Problem:

Your VEX GO Brain cannot connect because the firmware is out of date and needs to be updated. However, the Battery level is too low to do so.

Possible Solution:

Charge the VEX GO Battery. Then, attempt to connect your VEX GO Brain to VEXcode GO.

Ensure that the charged Battery is connected to the Brain, and that the Brain is powered on before attempting to connect.


Connection to VEX GO Brain Was Lost

Problem:

Your VEX GO Brain lost connection to App-based VEXcode GO. A lost connection could be caused by the VEX GO Brain being carried out of range, the VEX GO Battery being dead, a disconnected wire between the VEX GO Brain and Battery, or the Brain

Possible Solution Steps:

If your VEX GO Brain is out of range, bring it back into range of your device.

If your VEX GO Battery is dead, charge the battery. Then power the VEX GO Brain on to reconnect.

If your VEX GO Battery is unplugged from the VEX GO Brain, replace the plug and ensure they are connected.

If your Battery is charged, and the Brain and Battery are connected to one another and in range, then power cycle the VEX GO Brain. Press and hold the button for 5 seconds, to cause the Brain to turn off. Then press the button to turn it back on.


Unable to Update Out of Date Firmware Using the Chromebook App

Your VEX GO Brain needs updated firmware in order to connect, but is unable to update.

Possible Solution
