Mounting the GPS Field Code Strips

The following article will cover how to prepare the VRC Field to attach the GPS Field Code strips in order to use the GPS Sensor on your robot.

Insert your polycarbonate panels into each Competition Field Wall with the paper/film facing in towards the game elements.

Take the adhesive Hook & Loop Adhesive and cut it into 48 1.25” x 1.00” pieces (3.18cm x 2.54cm).

Adhere the Hook & Loop Adhesive vertically, attaching the loop side of the Hook & Loop Adhesive piece to the Field Wall.

Twelve 1.25” x 1.00” (3.18cm x 2.54cm) pieces will be used for each of the 4 Field Walls. Place each Hook & Loop Adhesive piece 12” (30.48cm) apart.

To identify the top side of the GPS Field Code Strips, the “VEX GPS” Logo should be right side up.

In the bottom left corner of each GPS Field Code Strip, there will be a number label #1-4.

Attach the GPS Field Code Strips according to their number label to the corresponding wall.

  • GPS Field Code Strip #1 will be placed on the 90° wall.
  • GPS Field Code Strip #2 will be placed on the 180° wall.
  • GPS Field Code Strip #3 will be placed on the 270° wall.
  • GPS Field Code Strip #4 will be placed on the 0° wall.

When attaching the GPS Field Code Strips, ensure that they are flat against the Field Walls. There should be no large gaps between the GPS Field Code Strip and the Field Wall.
