The VEX AIR Drone allows for up to ten custom sounds to be used in a project. This article will walk you through where and how to upload and use custom sounds in VEXcode AIR.
Using the Control Panel to Upload Custom Sounds
First, open the Control Panel by selecting the Gear icon.
Select the Sounds tab.
Select the Upload icon for the desired slot. VEXcode AIR allows for 10 different sounds to be uploaded.
The Sound Selector will appear. Here options will appear for preloaded sounds as well as an option for uploading your own custom sound.
Choose any preloaded sound before selecting Send to Drone to add that sound to the drone's available sounds.
You can also select the Play button hear a preview of what a sound is.
Select Upload Custom Sound to use a different custom sound. Use the Select File button to open your device's file navigation.
Navigate through your device's file menu and select your custom sound.
Note: Sound files must be MP3s.
The sound will be uploaded and will appear in the chosen slot. By default, sounds will be named SOUND1 with the number matching the slot the sound is uploaded to.

Renaming a Sound File
Any sound file can be renamed in the Control Panel.
Select the edit icon to the right of the current sound name.
A window will appear. Type the new name for the sound file into the text box, then select Update.
Sound names can contain a maximum of 14 characters and cannot cannot begin with a number or include spaces.
The updated sound name will now appear in the Control Panel.
This update will also show in the parameter dropdown for the Play sound file block or the autocomplete for the Python command depending on your coding method.
Playing a Sound File
After uploading the sound file, an option will become available to play the sound on your device.
To hear the sound played on your device, select the Computer icon.
Deleting a Sound File
To delete a sound from the Control Panel, select the Trash icon.
To delete all sounds, select the Delete All Sounds option at the bottom of the Sounds tab.
