Downloading, Running, and Stopping a VEXcode AIR Project

When your VEX AIR Drone Controller is connected to VEXcode AIR, you can download, run, and stop a project for your VEX AIR Drone on your controller and in VEXcode AIR. To learn more about how to connect your controller to VEXcode AIR, view this article.

When your controller is connected, the Controller icon will show green, and the Download, Run, and Stop buttons in the upper right hand corner of the VEXcode AIR Toolbar will become active.

Downloading a project

To download a project to your controller, select the Download button in VEXcode AIR.

If you have not yet saved your project, you will be prompted to save it. Select Yes to save your project to your device.

You will see a progress bar appear when your project is downloading.

Note: VEXcode AIR projects will download to Slot 1 on the controller by default. To change the slot number you download a project to, select the Slot icon and choose from the available slots.

Running a project

Once a project is downloaded to the controller, you can run the project either in VEXcode AIR or on the controller.

To run the project in VEXcode AIR, be sure your controller remains connected. Select the Run button in the VEXcode AIR Toolbar to run the project. 

The Controller shows the Programs menu on the screen, with the VEXcode Project in slot 1 highlighted. To the right, the takeoff button is highlighted, indicating what to press to start the project.

To run the project on the controller, press and hold the Takeoff and Land button on the controller. You will see a progress bar across the project name in the Programs menu, then the project will start.

Stopping a Project

You can stop a project at any time using either VEXcode AIR or the controller.

To stop the project in VEXcode AIR, be sure your controller remains connected. Select the Stop button in the VEXcode AIR Toolbar to stop the project. 

When the project is stopped, the drone will land.

To stop the project on the controller, press the Takeoff and Land button.

If the drone is flying when the Takeoff and Land button is pressed, you will be prompted to land the drone to stop the project. 

Select Land to land the drone and stop the project.
