To utilize your VEX IQ AI Vision Sensor in VEXcode projects, you must first connect and configure the sensor with web-based VEXcode IQ. This requires:
- A VEX IQ AI Vision Sensor.
- VEXcode IQ downloaded on your Windows or macOS device.
- A USB-C cable.
After configuring the sensor, you will also need the VEX IQ Brain, Battery, and smart cable to begin downloading and running projects using the AI Vision Sensor.
Connecting and Configuring an AI Vision Sensor
Connect the AI Vision Sensor to your computer with a USB-C cable.
Open app-based VEXcode IQ and open the Devices menu.
Select Add a Device.
Select AI Vision.
Select the Smart Cable port that the sensor will be connected to on the IQ Brain.
Select Configure.
The AI Vision Sensor’s video screen will show what the sensor is seeing. This may take a few seconds to update.
If it does not update, check your cable connections to the sensor and computer.
Below the AI Vision Sensor’s screen is information about the AI Vision Sensor’s firmware.
If the button says New Update Available, that means you need to update the firmware. Follow this article to learn about Updating the AI Vision Sensor's Firmware.
If the button says Firmware is Up to Date then your AI Vision Sensor has the most current firmware and is ready to go!

Connecting an AI Vision Sensor to an IQ Brain
Once you have finished configuring the AI Vision Sensor, disconnect the Sensor from the computer and attach it to your IQ Brain with a Smart Cable.
You can now connect your IQ Brain to your computer to download projects using the AI Vision Sensor.
