The VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) Tipping Point game, and the accompanying VRC Tipping Point Lessons, can be used as part of your curriculum. The six-lesson unit breaks down each method of scoring for students, with a combination of direct instruction through videos, and hands-on coding exploration and game play.

Overview of the VRC Tipping Point Lessons
Each lesson in the six-lesson unit is built around a way to score in Tipping Point. After decomposing the goal of the lesson, students build a project to see the scoring in action. They then apply those skills to a mini-challenge, to score on their own. The lessons also include information about using sensors, drivetrain headings, and coding tips, to help students explore more coding concepts in the context of playing the game.
In Lesson 1, students are introduced to the 2021-2022 VEX Robotics Competition (VRC) Tipping Point. They will see an overview of the game, Moby (the Hero Bot), and web-based VEXcode VR.
In Lesson 2, students will learn how to drive and turn Moby to pick up and move a Mobile Goal into the Alliance Home Zone to score. They will then apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge and score a Mobile Goal in the Alliance Home Zone themselves.
In Lesson 3, students will learn how to use the Forks to drop Preload Rings into a Mobile Goal Base, then move the goal to the Alliance Home Zone to score. They will then apply these skills to complete a mini-challenge to score Preload Rings and a Mobile Goal themselves.
In Lesson 4, students will learn how to use Moby’s Forks to pick up and score Rings from the Field into Mobile Goals. They will then apply their learning to this point to score Preload Rings, Rings from the Field, and a Mobile Goal in an Alliance Home Zone in the mini-challenge.
In Lesson 5, students will learn how to drive Moby onto a Platform to balance and score. They will then apply these skills in a mini-challenge to score a Mobile Goal in an Alliance Home Zone, then balance Moby on the Platform.
In Lesson 6, students will learn how to use the GPS Sensor to drive and score Mobile Goals in Alliance Home Zones with greater precision, and less guess and check. In the mini-challenge, they will use the GPS Sensor to score multiple Mobile Goals in the Alliance Home Zone.
