Update the 123 Robot Using the VEX Classroom App

The firmware on one or multiple 123 Robots can be updated at the same time using the VEX Classroom app.

Navigate to your device’s app store and search for ‘VEX Classroom’ to download the app if you have not done so already.

Note: the VEX Classroom app is available on the Apple App Store for iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches, on the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets, and on the Amazon Appstore for Fire Tablets.


Update the 123 Robot using VEXcode 123

The 123 Robot will automatically update when connected to VEXcode 123.

A 123 Robot will flash colors and play sounds when it is updating. View this animation to see the flashing colors and hear the sounds that indicate the status of the update.

Note: the update length has been shortened for the animation. An actual firmware update may take up to 2 minutes.


Update the 123 Robot using the Classroom app

The 123 Robot can also be updated using the VEX Classroom app.

Update one 123 Robot’s Firmware

To update one 123 Robot’s Firmware, select the 123 Robot that you wish to update. 123 Robots that need a firmware update will be shown in red.

Select ‘Update’ from the list of options.

A progress bar will appear to show the progress of the update. Note that all other options will remain unavailable until the update has finished.

Once the update is complete, the 123 Robot name and icon will now show green in the app. Note that the ‘Update’ option is unavailable since the 123 Robot is now up to date.

Update multiple 123 Robots’ Firmware

To update the firmware on multiple 123 Robots at once, select ‘Update All Devices.’

Progress bars will appear to show the progress of each 123 Robot’s update as well as the overall update for all 123 Robots. Note that the ‘Update All Devices’ option changes to ‘Updating All’ until the updates have finished.

Once the update is complete, the 123 Robots’ name and icon will now show green in the app. Note that the ‘Update All Devices’ option has changed to ‘All Devices Up To Date’ since all 123 Robots are now up to date.
