Updating the VEX GO Brain's Firmware

The firmware on one or multiple GO Brains can be updated at a time using the VEX Classroom App.

Navigate to your device’s app store and search for ‘VEX Classroom’ to download the app if you have not done so already.

Update VEX GO when using an iPad or Android device

When using an iPad or Android device, VEX GO will automatically update when the Brain is connected to VEXcode GO.

A Brain that is updating will blink green and red while it is updating. It will return to solid green once the update is complete.

Note: the update length has been shortened for the animation. An actual firmware update may take up to 2 minutes.


Update VEX GO when using a Chromebook or Chrome Web Browser

When using a Chromebook or Chrome Web Browser, VEX GO must initially be updated with the Classroom App. Then, future updates can be made directly in VEXcode GO.

Update one GO Brain’s Firmware

To update one GO Brain’s Firmware, select the GO Brain. GO Brains that need a firmware update will be shown in red.

Select ‘Update’ from the list of options.

A progress bar will appear to show the progress of the update. Note that all other options will remain unavailable until the update has finished.

Once the update is complete, the Brain name and icon will now show green in the app. Note that the ‘Update’ option is unavailable since the Brain is now up to date.

The button on top of the GO Brain will remain a solid green once the update is complete.

Update multiple GO Brain Firmware

To update the firmware on multiple GO Brains at once, select ‘Update All Devices.’

Progress bars will appear to show the progress of each Brain’s update as well as the overall update for all Brains. Note that the ‘Update All Devices’ option changes to ‘Updating All’ until the updates have finished.

Once the update is complete, the Brains’ name and icon will now show green in the app. Note that the ‘Update All Devices’ option has changed to ‘All Devices Up To Date’ since all Brains are now up to date.
