The VEX Classroom App is a useful tool that allows you to get started quickly. The app can be used to easily update GO Brain Firmware, including updating multiple robot brains at one time. You can also use it to rename GO Brains, monitor battery life, and monitor sensor data in real time!
Navigate to your device’s app store and search for VEX Classroom to download the app if you have not already done so.
Note: The VEX Classroom App is available on the following platforms:

- Google Play Store - Android phones and tablets
- Amazon Appstore - Amazon Fire tablets
Getting Started
When you open the VEX Classroom App, you will see an image of Colonel Jo explaining the purposes of the app.
Select Scan for VEX Devices to begin.
Updating the GO Brain Firmware
The firmware on one or multiple GO Brains can be updated at a time using the VEX Classroom App.
Select Update All to update the firmware of all the GO Brains.
Locating a GO Brain
A GO Brain can be located using the app. The location feature identifies a specific brain by making the indicator light on top of the brain turn yellow.
To locate a GO Brain, find the brain that you want to locate.
Select the Locate icon next to the brain's name.
The Locate icon will begin to flash yellow.
Once the specific GO Brain is located, the button on top of the brain will turn yellow, as shown in this animation.
Renaming a Single GO Brain
To rename a GO Brain, select the brain that is to be renamed.
Select Rename.
Select the text field to begin typing in the new name.
Select Save Name to set the brain's name.
The new name will then be displayed.
Renaming All GO Brains
To rename all detected GO Brains at once, select Rename All.
By default, each GO Brain is named GO followed by a number, such as GO 1 and GO 2.
To use your own name instead, select Custom Name from the dropdown menu. Each GO Brain will be named with your custom name followed by a number, such as SMITH 1.
Select Rename to rename all GO Brains.
The new names are displayed in the VEX Devices list, so each GO Brain can be easily identified.
Monitoring Battery Life
The state of each GO Brain’s Battery is listed. This can be used to monitor the battery life of all detected GO Brains.
Note that the battery life will not appear if a GO Brain's firmware is in recovery mode.
Monitoring Sensor Data
Select the GO Brain that you want to see the sensor data for.
Scroll down to see the Device info. This will show a Super Code Base configuration of devices. Select the devices to change them and get real-time readings on those sensors.
Below is a table that displays the real-time values returned by the Eye Sensor and the GO Brain's Inertial Sensor.
At the bottom is a virtual One Stick Controller, that will show the position of the joystick and whatever buttons on the controller that are currently being pressed if one is paired to that GO Brain.
Accessing Help in the VEX Classroom App
Select the Help icon at the top right of the VEX Classroom App.
Select the name of the Help document that you want to read to open it in the app.
Select the Help icon again to close the Help documentation.
