Installing the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi and Antennas for VEX AI

Before the Jetson can function properly, the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi and Antennas need to be installed.

Parts Needed

Jetson Nano board with Intel Wi-Fi module and two external antennas placed beside it.

The parts needed for assembly are as follows:

  • Jetson
  • Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi
  • 2x Antennas

Remove the Jetson Nano Module

Jetson Nano board with cooling fan detached and placed beside it.

Unplug the fan if it is attached to the Jetson Nano Module and remove it. If the fan is already detached, proceed to step 2.

Attach the Antennas

Ensure the plastic coverings are removed from both antennas.

First antenna cable being connected to the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi module.

Attach one antenna to the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi. Ensure to apply light pressure, as the parts are delicate. A ‘click’ sound will ensure the antenna is attached fully.

Note: if more pressure is needed to secure the antenna, use a pencil eraser or other small object to apply more pressure. Using metal to apply pressure is not recommended.

Second antenna cable connected to the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi module.

Attach the second antenna following the same procedure in the previous step.

Ensure both antennas are attached to the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi fully. Pick up the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi to ensure both antennas are secure and neither of them fall off.

It will remain angled up slightly until a screw is used to hold it down in place.

Secure the screw to hold the Intel Dual Band Wi-Fi in place. Ensure to not tighten the screw too much to avoid stripping it.

Re-attach the Jetson Nano Module
