Step 1: Turn on the V5 Robot Brain by pressing the power button.
Step 2: Select ‘Settings’ on the V5 Robot Brain’s screen to check the Radio Type. The Radio Type must be set to Bluetooth for the connection to be successful.
Step 3: The Settings dialog window will open. Look for the Radio Type in the bottom left corner. If the Radio Type is set to VEXnet, switch it to Bluetooth by pressing the Radio Type area.
Step 4: A prompt will appear to confirm changing the Radio Type. Select ‘Ok’ to confirm the change.
Step 5: Ensure the Radio Type displays that it is now connected via Bluetooth.
Step 6: Ensure the Radio Data is set to ‘On.’
Step 7: Check the connection icon. Once the Radio Type is set to Bluetooth and the Radio Data is On, the connection icon will display ‘BD.’
Note: If the Radio Type is set to VEXnet, the connection icon will display ‘V.’
Step 8: The V5 Brain Unique ID will be needed for a successful connection. To find the Unique ID, return to the home screen by selecting the power button.
Step 9: Select ‘Devices’ on the V5 Robot Brain’s Home screen.
Step 10: Select the Brain device from the Device Info screen.
Step 11: Remember the Unique ID that you will use to connect the V5 Robot Brain to the iPad.
Step 12: Launch VEXcode V5 on your iPad.
Step 13: Select the ‘Brain’ icon in the Toolbar.
Step 14: View the Smart Radio Connection dialog window open.
Step 15: Select the + button to add your V5 Brain Unique ID.
Step 16: Once the + button is selected, the Unique ID window opens.
Step 17: Enter the V5 Brain Unique ID.
Step 18: Select ‘Submit’ after entering your V5 Brain Unique ID.
Note: It may take a few moments for the iPad to connect to the V5 Robot Brain.
Step 19: Once connected, view the Radio Connection Code that will display on the Brain’s screen.
Step 20: Enter this number in the Radio Connection Code dialog window on your device and select ‘Submit.’
Step 21: Wait a few seconds for the V5 Robot Brain and iPad to connect. View the Robot Brain icon turn green in the Toolbar, which indicates a successful Smart Radio connection.
Step 22: View the confirmation in the Smart Radio Connection window.
Note: The connection icon will display ‘D’ in the top right corner of the Brain’s screen when the V5 Robot Brain is connected to the iPad.
