Understanding Error Messages on iPads or Android Tablets in VEXcode IQ (1st gen)

One of the following errors might appear when wirelessly connecting to a VEX IQ Brain:


VEXcode IQ error prompt that reads There was an error advertising this tablet to the target IQ Brain. Please close the app and try again. Error Code 4. The prompt has a blue OK button in its bottom right corner.

  • Try force closing VEXcode IQ and reopening VEXcode IQ.
  • If the issue does not resolve, please leave Feedback within VEXcode IQ.

VEXcode IQ error prompt that reads There was an error advertising this tablet to the target IQ Brain. This may have been caused by another app or the system using the Bluetooth connection. Please close the app and try again. Error Code 4. The prompt has a blue OK button in its bottom right corner.

Try the following steps to fix this error:

  1. Try force closing VEXcode IQ and reopening VEXcode IQ.
  2. Close any and all other apps running before restarting the VEXcode IQ app. 
  3. Restart the VEXcode IQ app to see if the connection is now successful. 

If that doesn’t work, try the following:

  1. Try force closing VEXcode IQ and reopening VEXcode IQ.
  2. Toggle to turn off the Bluetooth on the tablet, wait five seconds, and then toggle again to turn the Bluetooth back on.

  3. Reopen the VEXcode IQ app.

Note: Suspending the app and Bluetooth will break the connection and may require repeating the process for wirelessly connecting.
