Viewing Values of 3-Wire Ports on the V5 Brain

Make sure the V5 Robot Brain is on

Turn on the V5 Robot Brain by pressing and holding the Home button on the brain.

Select the Devices icon

Select the 3-Wire ports icon

Brain screen is shown in the Device Info menu which has a list of all of the Brain's Smart Ports and connected devices. The 3 Wire ports icon in the Device Info menu is highlighted to indicate that items can be selected to open their information menus.

View the values on the 3-Wire ports

Brain screen is shown in the 3 Wire Ports Info menu that lists information about connected 3 Wire devices. The menu lists all 8 of the 3 Wire ports that are labeled alphabetically from A to H. In this example, all of the ports are set to Analog Input.

NOTE: Each 3-wire Port is highlighted with its letter inside of a triangle.

Change the 3-Wire Port settings

To change the 3-Wire port settings, press the screen on the corresponding port cell.

There are 4 settings: Analog Input, Digital Input, Digital Out High, Digital Out Low.

  • Analog Input: The brain will display the analog value from the connected VEX EDR sensor.
  • Digital Input: The brain will display the digital value from the connected VEX EDR sensor.
  • Digital Out High: The brain will generate a "high" (1) signal to send to the VEX EDR device.
  • Digital Out Low: The brain will generate a "low" (0) signal to send to the VEX EDR device.
